Agents that live on your grid and work while you don't
A coil is an always-on agent with a job. It sleeps until there's something to do, wakes on a schedule, a webhook or a message, does the work, asks before it changes anything that matters, and remembers what it learned. You can see every coil at a glance, because each one is a little snake with a face that shows how it's doing.

Your coils, at a glance
The Den
The Coils page opens on the Den, one shared grid where all your coils live. Each coil moves in its real state: sleeping coils curl up, working ones roam toward what they're touching, and one that needs you rears up with a "!". Below the Den, each coil has a card with its status, when it wakes next and how much of today's budget it has used. Your coils are also listed in the sidebar, so you can jump to any of them from anywhere in WCode.
An agent with a job, not a chat you have to keep open
Chats are for working with WCode in the moment. Coils are for the work that should keep happening when you're not there.
1Give it a jobBrief it in plain words, choose the tools it may use and set a daily budget.
2It sleeps until neededBetween runs a coil is asleep and costs nothing. It wakes at its pace, on a webhook or when you message it.
3It does the workIt reads, checks and drafts on its own, and you can watch it roam toward what it's touching right now.
4It asks before it actsAnything that changes something waits for your approval, unless you've told it that it can go ahead.
5It gets betterIt keeps what it learns as memories and skills, so next time it's faster and needs you less.
Meet the coils
Four kinds of coil, one for each kind of job
Start from a type and it comes with the right job, tools and accessory, so you can tell what each coil does at a glance. Every coil has a face, and it shows how things are going: bright and curious when all is well, worried when it needs you, dizzy when something broke, asleep when there's nothing to do.
Personal AssistantWears a bow tie. Triages your inbox, keeps your calendar honest, drafts replies for you to send and pulls together a morning brief.
MonitorWears a headlamp. Watches logs, uptime and error rates on your servers, and wakes you only when something actually breaks, with the fix ready to approve.
ImproverCarries a wrench. Works through your repo while you're away: fixing flaky tests, clearing lint, bumping dependencies and making small refactors as reviewable changes.
CustomNo accessory, no assumptions. Write the job the way you'd brief a person, pick the tools it may use and decide how often it runs.
A face that tells you thingsCoils blink, glance around, grin and sparkle while all is well. Hover any face to cheer it up.
How a coil works
Sleep, wake, work, ask, learn
A coil spends most of its life asleep, which costs nothing. When a trigger fires it wakes, does its run, and goes back to sleep. Each moment of that life has its own pose, so a glance at the Den tells you what's going on. Pick a state below to see it.

Create a coil
Six short steps, about a minute
Pick a type, give it a name and a colour, brief it, choose what it may reach, set how active it should be and how much it can do on its own. Try it: the preview updates as you go, and your new coil wakes up when you create it.
You stay in charge
When a coil needs you, it asks
Reading is always free, but anything that writes, sends or restarts waits for your OK unless you've allowed it. The request leads with the coil's face so you know who's asking, then says exactly what it wants to do, why, and what it will touch. Approve or deny it here and watch Pip react in the Den above. Coils also reach you through notifications, and their faces stay readable down to the smallest sizes.

The 5xx rate has been at 14% for 6 minutes. nginx -t passes and the upstream API is healthy, so a restart is the runbook fix.

Eight colours, one per coil
You pick a colour when you create a coil, and it follows that coil everywhere: the Den, its avatar, its notifications and its chats. Every colour is tuned for light and dark mode, so your coils stay easy to tell apart either way.
